Thailand (THA)Institution at a Glance
Bangkok Commercial Asset Management Public Company Limited (BAM) was established in 1998 under the Ministry of Finance’s financial institutions development plan to manage non-performing loans (NPLs) of Bangkok Bank of Commerce PCL. The company was registered in 1999 and licensed by the Bank of Thailand as an asset management company under the Emergency Decree on Asset Management Company B.E. 2541 (1998).
BAM later became a state-owned enterprise under the Financial Institutions Development Fund (FIDF), with FIDF holding 99.99% of its shares, and expanded its mandate to manage assets from other financial institutions. In 2015, BAM was converted into a public company. This was followed by a successful IPO and listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 2019, with the company’s shares trading under the ticker “BAM” and FIDF’s shareholding adjusted to 45.79%.
Today, BAM operates as a leading distressed asset management company, specializing in the resolution of non-performing loans (NPLs) and the management of non-performing assets (NPAs), thereby supporting debt resolution and returning real estate assets to the market. The company has been advancing its BAMX Transformation to drive sustainable growth, while continuing to strengthen strategic partnerships with both public and private sector partners, including joint ventures with financial institutions and collaborations with property developers and brokers.

Main Activities
BAM’s distressed asset management operations are structured across two core business areas, supporting debt resolution and the return of properties to the market, thereby contributing to financial stability, sustainable economic growth, and value creation in Thailand, as follows:
1) Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) Management
BAM acquires non-performing loans (NPLs) from financial institutions through competitive bidding or bilateral negotiations, primarily focusing on secured loan portfolios. The company manages these distressed assets through debt restructuring and negotiation or legal enforcement processes, with the objective of recovering value in the form of cash or underlying assets. This approach enables BAM to optimize recovery outcomes while maintaining disciplined and efficient portfolio management.
2) Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) Management
NPAs are obtained either through conversion from NPLs, where the company acquires ownership of underlying collateral through legal enforcement or debt resolution, or through direct acquisition, with a primary focus on real estate assets. BAM disposes of NPAs through a structured disposition strategy aligned with market conditions. The company sells assets either on an as-is basis or following value enhancement through property improvements, depending on expected returns. Through these approaches, BAM aims to optimize asset value, reduce holding costs, and support sustainable asset utilization.
